And there is Tara (from True Blood) on the cover! Woohoo!
Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Dead as a Doornail is a classic Sookie Stackhouse novel with lots of action. But something I particularly liked in this one was it felt like a lot of time was spent at Merlotte’s and at Sookie’s home.
For me, that made this book five stars because I feel like the bar and Sookie’s house (the family home) are characters in themselves – and I love them. 💕
In terms of characters, I had plenty to enjoy with Jason, Eric, Calvin Norris (the panther)—an interesting fellow who’s a bit keen on ol’ Sook—Alcide, a new guy called Charles Twining. I love the fact Twining is English, and his name is…well…Twining (lol). Near the end of the novel, another new character enters – Quinn. Now, if you’ve only seen the TV series, you won’t know about Quinn (he was never in it), but he’s going to be one to watch.
Action! We had someone shooting rando shifters. Or ‘were’ they randos…?
There was the fight for the new pack master that Alcide dragged Sookie into. Another difference between the TV series and the books is that Alcide tends toward being helpful, or neutral in True Blood.
In this book we have him being a tad crafty, getting Sookie involved in things that she might have wanted a choice about. Nope, Alcide. Uh-uh.
Anyhoo…here I come Definitely Dead.
