This book is dark, particularly if you’re a parent. We all worry the crap out of ourselves over our kid’s welfare, and this book plucks away at those fears. Was it scary, though? It was for me. I checked locks and looked under beds a few times while reading.
The boy’s dialogue was sadly, and amusingly, realistic. Also, I’m a The Walking Dead fan so appreciated the zombie references (thank you, Mr Tremblay :D).
Disappearance at Devil’s Rock was better than A Head Full of Ghosts for me because I found the characters in this story more likeable. Overall Tremblay is a solid writer and well worth reading if you enjoy horror.
