My rating:
A confusing novel but I just let myself get swept along, trying not to ask where it was leading. That seemed the only way. There is an element of beauty in the writing yet the novel speaks also to the baseness and horror in humanity. Themes include desire, sexual assault, art, beauty, nature, dreams, mental illness, anorexia, relationships, arrrrgggh. But perhaps I shouldn’t be talking to much about this novel given I’m still feeling confronted, and confused and, if I’m being honest, a little disgusted.
